THE DALHOUSIE DANCE SOCIETY
Recreational dance practices for dancers of every skill level
COVID-19 Update #2:
Following below is an update regarding the fall semester. At this point, sport clubs is waiting on further decisions from Dal, as they aren’t sure which facilities will be able to reopen and when. Additionally, sport clubs will be following all directives from the Nova Scotia Health Authority and no programs will be run if it is unsafe to do so. At this point, we’re hoping that we will have some form of in person programming this fall, but are still waiting on decisions from sport clubs. Hopefully we will know more in the coming weeks and will continue to keep everyone updated as information comes out. In the meantime, we are proceeding as normal in terms of choreographer applications, and are looking into options to continue to make dance accessible to students in the fall. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to myself or anyone else on council!
Stay safe and hope to dance with everyone soon!
Due to the current circumstances, which are relatively unchanged since our last post, and a lack of availability of choreographers, we have made the decision to cancel all in-person summer classes this year.
That being said, we are currently in the process of putting together a plan for possible virtual summer dance classes! There will be more information coming on these soon, so stay tuned and in the meantime, stay safe! :)
Currently you are all aware of the many precautions being made in Halifax with regards to the COVID-19 virus. Our number 1 priority to you all is your safety and well-being and we cannot in good conscious continue this semester.
Due to this we will unfortunately be cancelling the 2020 Recital: Ignite, as well as all future winter semester DalDance practices and the year-end banquet.
Please note the following procedures being made in light of these cancellations:
1. Any tickets purchased will be refunded by the Dalhousie Arts Centre, they will be reaching out to ticket holders with further information, though during this time the arts will be greatly affected so if you can please consider donating the price of your ticket to the arts program. Please contact them if you have further questions
2. Voting for the 2020-2021 council will be conducted via an anonymous survey monkey. It is imperative that we have as many members as possible vote. As a society we must meet a minimum requirement of voters in order to pass the voting process
3. As to our refund policy, we unfortunately will not be able to provide reimbursement for the remainder of the semester
4. Please stay up to date on our Facebook page with information from the incoming council with regards to possible summer classes.
If you require further information in regard to procedures to remain safe, please refer to the Nova Scotia Health Authority http://www.nshealth.ca/
We appreciate all the hard work you have all put into the society and your dances this year. Your dedication to the society is what keeps us going and we hope that you continue to support it through this trying time and in the future.
Please stay safe and have a good remainder of the semester,
2020 DalDance Council
